Winter Arts Festival to bring holiday cheer to Newark

Downtown Newark will get a little more festive next Saturday, December 19, when the Newark Symphony Hall hosts Newark’s Winter Arts Festival, which, if you’re anything like me, will be a perfect opportunity to finish up last-minute shopping for those on your ‘nice’ list this year.

The event will feature a runway fashion extravaganza, special guest performances, and plenty of gifts to browse. And, if you’ve got a little elf or two following you around, there’ll be a Children’s Zone with arts & crafts, storytelling, and plenty of activities to keep them distracted long enough for you to find them the perfect stocking stuffer. Rounding out the lineup of activities is a Senior crafts table - perfect for the older child in your life.

Newark Symphony Hall is located on 1020-1030 Broad Street in Newark, just across the street from Lincoln Park. The Newark Winter Arts festival is a presentation of the Mayor’s Office of Arts, Cultural Development and Tourism. The fun begins at 10am and continues until 5pm, and admission is free. For more information, contact Gwen Moten, Executive Director of the Mayor’s office of Arts, at (973) 733-6400, or send an email to moteng@ci.newark.nj.us.
