Christmas comes early in Perth Amboy as Amazon donates $20,000 in gifts

Children and senior citizens of the Puerto Rican Association for Human Development (PRAHD) celebrated Christmas a little early as Amazon and Santa made a special holiday delivery with $20,000 worth of gifts to the nonprofit today.

“We’re so happy and honored that Amazon chose PRAHD for its Holiday Giving Tour,” PRAHD executive director Yvonne Lopez said. “Our children and seniors were so excited for this day!”

This $20,000 community donation is part of a five-state tour and one of many events on the East Coast in a nationwide holiday giving effort to help families in need near Amazon’s fulfillment centers.

"This is our favorite time of year," said Chris Cooper, Director of Operations for the company's fulfillment center in Carteret. "We’re excited to be here for the kids and give each child their own tablet for them to have for the holidays. Hundreds of our associates live in Perth Amboy and the surrounding neighborhoods where PRAHD works, so it’s great to reciprocate and show our support for our community.”

Attendees included Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno, Assemblyman John Wisniewski, Perth Amboy Mayor Wilda Diaz, along with many PRAHD supporters and friends.

Amazon is proud to support the communities where employees and customers live and work and give back to those making a difference in Perth Amboy. Amazon is also pleased to unveil the brand new fleet of 53-foot-long trucks delivering customer orders.
